Why can’t I connect my MoCA device to my Xfinity gateway?
By default, Xfinity gateways come with MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) functionality disabled. This means that when you first set up your Xfinity gateway, the MoCA feature—which allows for network connectivity over your home’s existing coaxial cabling—is not active out of the box. Therefore, if you are using an Xfinity gateway model such as the XB8, XB7, or XB6, you will need to reach out to Xfinity customer support to have them activate the MoCA feature, unless you are familiar with the process and can enable it through the device settings on your own. Enabling MoCA is essential for your MoCA-enabled Ethernet over Coaxial Bridges (ECBs) to function properly within your network, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance throughout your home or workspace.
If you are not utilizing the MoCA feature that is integrated into your Xfinity gateway and instead are relying on two or more ScreenBeam Ethernet over Coaxial Bridge (ECB) devices to establish a MoCA network, we encourage you to review the following FAQ. This guide provides essential troubleshooting steps and best practices to help you optimize your MoCA network setup, address common challenges, and ensure reliable, high-speed connectivity throughout your home or office environment.
