This can be caused by several different reasons. here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue.
ScreenBeam MoCA adapters are Layer 2 bridging devices and do NOT assign IP addresses. The error typically stems from your router or client device. Follow these steps to troubleshoot:
- Verify IP Assignment Source
- MoCA adapters merely extend the network over coax cables.
- IP addresses must come from your router’s DHCP server (or a manual static configuration).
- Basic Checks
- Restart your device: Forces a new DHCP request to the router.
- Ethernet connections:
- Ensure cables are fully seated at both ends (MoCA adapter and client device).
- Try a different cable if link lights are off (see LED Status below).
- Client Device Configuration
- DHCP must be enabled on your device (computer/game console/TV).
- How to check: Refer to your device manufacturer’s guide.
- Static IP users: Ensure the IP is within your router’s subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.x for a router at 192.168.1.1).
- MoCA Adapter Status
- Ethernet LED: Should glow/flash when connected. No light indicates a physical layer issue (cable/adapter/port fault).
- Coax/MoCA LED: Must be solid green for MoCA connectivity. If off, troubleshoot coax wiring.
- Advanced: Managing Multiple ECBs
- Factory-default static IP (192.168.144.200) is only for web GUI access, not network operation.
- To avoid conflicts:
- Set adapters to DHCP (recommended), or
- Manually assign unique static IPs outside your router’s DHCP range.
