This is a step by step guide on how to connect your ScreenBeam ECBs to your router or modem. Then to your device in another room.
Determine if your existing router or modem is MoCA-ready
ScreenBeam cannot help you determine if your device is MoCA-ready. Only the manufacturer or the provider of that device will be able to help you with that. There are too many model numbers and firmware versions for our team to keep track of to help our customers with that, so we do apologize.
MoCA Ready (requires 1 MoCA Device)
- Take the MoCA device to a location where you want an Ethernet connection.
- Plug the power cord into the wall, then into the MoCA device, and wait for the green power light. If you get the green power light, continue to step 3.
- If you do not get a green power light.
- Make sure you are using the power supply that came with the unit.
- Try a different outlet. If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and needs to be replaced.
- Connect the coax cable from the wall (or splitter if using one) to the MoCA device and wait for the MoCA light to come on green. If you get the green MoCA light, continue to step 4.
- If you do not get the green MoCA light.
- Contact your router or modem manufacturer or provider to make sure MoCA is enabled.
- Try a different coax cable
- Remove splitter (if using)
- Make sure all splitters meet the correct requirements
- Try connecting to a different coax outlet, maybe one in the same room as your existing router or modem
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the MoCA device to the device you are trying to connect to the internet. The Ethernet port lights on the MoCA will begin to blink in different patterns depending on the type of Ethernet port on your device. Continue to step 5.
- Wait for your device to get an internet connection.
- Once it says it is connected, test your internet connection
- If you do not get an internet connection, you may need to troubleshoot your device to see why it is not connecting to the internet.
- You can try a different device with an Ethernet connection to rule out the Ethernet port on the MoCA device
- If you do not get any Ethernet lights on the MoCA device.
- Try a different Ethernet cable.
- Make sure the Ethernet port is enabled on your device.
- If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and needs to be replaced.
Non-MoCA Ready (requires 2 MoCA Devices)
- Plug the power cord directly into the wall, then into the MoCA device for the 1st MoCA device, and wait for the green power light. If you get the green power light, continue to step 2.
- If you do not get a green power light.
- Make sure you are using the power supply that came with the unit.
- Try a different outlet. If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and needs to be replaced.
- If you do not get a green power light.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the 1st MoCA device to a LAN port on your router or modem. The Ethernet port lights on the MoCA device will begin to blink in different patterns depending on the type of Ethernet port of your router or modem. Continue to step 3.
- If you do not get any Ethernet lights on the MoCA device.
- Try another Ethernet cable
- Try connecting a known working Ethernet device using the same cable into the same port on the model or router to make sure the port is working on your router or modem
- Try a different port
- If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and need to be replaced.
- If you do not get any Ethernet lights on the MoCA device.
- Connect the coax cable from the wall to the 1st MoCA device and wait for the MoCA light to come on green. You will not get a green MoCA light until the second MoCA device is connected.
- Take the 2nd MoCA device to a location where you want to have an Ethernet connection.
- Plug the power cord directly into the wall, then into the MoCA device, and wait for the green power light. If you get the green power light, continue to step 6.
- If you do not get a green power light.
- Make sure you are using the power supply that came with the unit.
- Try a different outlet. If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and needs to be replaced.
- If you do not get a green power light.
- Connect the coax cable from the wall to the MoCA device and wait for the MoCA light to come on green. If you get the green MoCA light, continue to step 7.
- If you do not get the green MoCA light.
- Try connecting to a different coax outlet, maybe one in the same room as your existing router or modem
- Try a different coax cable
- Remove splitter (if using)
- Make sure all splitters meet the correct requirements
- If you do not get the green MoCA light.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the MoCA device to the device you are trying to connect to the internet. The Ethernet port lights on the MoCA will begin to blink in different patterns depending on the type of Ethernet port on your device.
