How do I add additional ECB devices?

Additional ECB devices can be added using the following steps. These steps assume you already have a working MoCA network setup and are just adding additional MoCA devices.

TIP: You can have up to 16 MoCA devices on one network. Keep in mind that the more devices you add, the weaker the signal strength will get, so be sure to only use as few as possible or to add amplifiers where needed to increase the signal strength. You can mix and match model numbers.

  1. Take the MoCA device to a location where you want an Ethernet connection.
  2. Plug the power cord into the wall, then into the MoCA device, and wait for the green power light. If you get the green power light, continue to step 3.
    1. If you do not get a green power light.
      1. Make sure you are using the power supply that came with the unit.
      2. Try a different outlet. If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and needs to be replaced.
  3. Connect the coax cable from the wall (or splitter if using one) to the MoCA device and wait for the MoCA light to come on green. If you get the green MoCA light, continue to step 4. Picture5
    1. If you do not get the green MoCA light.
      1. Contact your router or modem manufacturer or provider to make sure MoCA is enabled.
      2. Try a different coax cable
      3. Remove splitter (if using)
      4. Make sure all splitters meet the correct requirements
      5. Try connecting to a different coax outlet, maybe one in the same room as your existing router or modem
      6. Connect an Ethernet cable from the MoCA device to the device you are trying to connect to the internet. The Ethernet port lights on the MoCA will begin to blink in different patterns depending on the type of Ethernet port of your device. Continue to step 5.
  4. Wait for your device to get an internet connection.
  5. Once it says it is connected, test your internet connection
    1. If you do not get an internet connection, you may need to troubleshoot your device to see why it is not connecting to the internet.
    2. You can try a different device with an Ethernet connection to rule out the Ethernet port on the MoCA device
    3. If you do not get any Ethernet lights on the MoCA device.
      1. Try a different Ethernet cable.
      2. Make sure the Ethernet port is enabled on your device.
      3. If there are still no lights, the device may be defective and needs to be replaced.
